48-Years Old But Still Going Strong!!!Spinner Pravin Tambe Becomes First Indian Cricketer To Play In CPL

At the ripe old age of 48, Pravin Tambe became the first Indian cricketer to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Wednesday.Tambe marked his CPL debut for his franchisee Trinbago Knight Riders against St Lucia Zouks in a CPL game

48-year old veteran spinner Pravin Tambe has often proved the famous saying that age is only a number and does not deter an individual to pursue his goals in life..Fast approaching the half century milestone in his life, Pravin Tambe at the ripe old age of 48, became the first Indian cricketer to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Wednesday. Tambe was picked ahead of star Windies spinner Sunil Narine by his CPL franchise Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in their match against St Lucia Zouks . TKR skipper Kieron Pollard remained close guarded over why their front-line spinner Narine was not picked in the playing XI against the Zouks for the CPL game. Tambe had in July become the first Indian to sign for a CPL team when he was snapped up by TKR, a CPL franchise that is co-owned by Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan. KKR CEO Venky Mysore congratulated Tambe on the occasion. "I don't know about Pravin Tambe but I am excited that he's making his debut for @TKRiders! What an inspiring story!" tweeted Mysore. 2-time IPL Champs Kolkata Knight Riders had signed in Tambe for the impending thirteenth season of the IPL at the auctions which took place at Kolktaa in December last year. Tamba created a unique records of sorts as he became the oldest player to be sold at the IPL auctions. However, he was later disqualified by IPL's Governing Council for featuring in the T10 League in the UAE. "BCCI rules strictly say that an Indian player has to be exclusively playing in the IPL or he has to stay away from the cash-rich league and participate in other leagues across the globe. To have sent in his name for the T10 draft and now to also be a part of the IPL is clearly against the BCCI protocol. So, he can't play," a BCCI functionary told IANS in January. Tambe made his IPL debut at the age of 41 in 2013. He has so far played 33 matches in all IPL editions picking up 28 wickets.
