China To Host 3rd Asian Youth Games In November 2021 Despite COVID-19 Threat Looming Large

The multi-sporting event which could witness the best young sportsmen locking horns in 18 sports disciplines from all across the Asian continent will be held from 20th to 28th of November 2021 in Shantou, China.

New Delhi: Amid all sporting events in the world including the 2020 Tokyo Olympics getting either postponed or cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, China seems to be going the other way as the Asian sporting giant announced on Wednesday that it will be hosting the 3rd Asian Youth Games in November 2021. The multi-sporting event which could witness the best young sportsmen locking horns in 18 sports disciplines from all across the Asian continent will be held from 20th to 28th of November 2021 in Shantou, China. This development comes as a major silver lining in the world of sports which for the past one-odd month has only been headlined by either cancellations and rescheduling of events. It is notable that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics scheduled to be held in Japan in July-Aug this year, got postponed to 2021 amid the threat and fear posed by the COVID-Pandemic. All major world championships, seasoned sporting fixtures, major leagues and the Olympic Qualification events have been either rescheduled or cancelled by world sporting federations and bodies..
