According to an IANS report, Robin was caught driving at East Coast Road. He allegedly travelled in his car from Adyar to Utthandi in Chennai to buy vegetables. On checking, it was found that Robin neither carried any e-pass with him nor he had any emergency letter to travel during the lockdown period in the city.
State capital Chennai, as well as three other districts - Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpattu- are currently under complete lockdown for 12 days. It began from June 19 and will continue till June 30.
As per the official orders, the authorities said that the an E-pass would allotted to those who wish to travel out of Chennai for the purpose of attending weddings, or funerals on submission of proof. However, these relaxations are exempted in the containment zones.

The citizens were strictly ordered to come out only for buying essential items, and that too only within two kilometre radius from their homes without using their vehicles.
However, Singh reportedly violated these norms. The reports quoted police officials stating that, "He was very polite and didn't put on any airs. We seized his vehicle for violating the lockdown rules." The cops added that Singh might have travelled in his car perhaps for more than two kilometre from his residence.
Tamil Nadu is one of the worst affected states in the country after Maharashtra and Delhi. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare website, the state has recorded a total of 67,468 Coronavirus cases and 866 deaths due to the novel disease so far.
