Athletes' Issues Will Be Taken Seriously: Haryana CM On Protest Against WFI President Brij Bhushan Singh

The country's top wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia are sitting in protest against the WFI President at the Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

As the top wrestlers of the country continue to sit in protest against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has assured that the issue will be taken seriously. Notably, World championship medallist Vinesh Phogat had alleged the WFI President of Mental and Sexual harassment on Wednesday.

"The safety of our women athletes is very important and we take it seriously. We will not let their morale down," CM Khattar said as quoted by news agency ANI.

"We will not let their morale down. All the issues raised by the athletes will be taken seriously," he added.

Bajrang on Day 2 of the ongoing protests on Thursday said that if the wrestlers can fight for the country on the sporting arena, they are capable of fighting for their own rights. He said that the players stand united against the dictatorship of the WFI President and they do not need any help from a politician.

"The job of the federation is to support the players, take care of their sporting needs. If there is a problem, it has to be solved. But what if the federation itself creates the problem? Now we have to fight, we will not back down. #BoycottWFIPresident #BotcottWrestlingPresident," Bajrang had tweeted in Hindi on Wednesday.
