Athawale seeks inquiry into India's Champions Trophy final loss against Pakistan
Vadodara (Gujarat) [India], July 1 (ANI): Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale has demanded an 'inquiry' into India's heart-wrenching defeat against arch-rival Pakistan in the finals of the ICC Champions Trophy.
Pakistan had delivered a splendid all-round performance against title favourites India and won the finals by a massive margin of 180 runs at the Kennington Oval in London to lift their maiden Champions Trophy title.
"The way India got defeated against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final. India had defeated Pakistan in the earlier (league stage) match. How can such a strong team lose to its arch-rivals Pakistan in the final by 180 runs?" said Athawale on Friday.
"There should be an inquiry as to find out whether the match was fixed or not," he added.
Virat Kohli's men had earlier thrashed Pakistan by 124 runs in their opening clash of the tournament. (ANI)
