Indian shooter Ramita Jindal secured a bronze medal in the women's 10m air rifle individual event at the Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, on Sunday. Her compatriot, Mehuli Ghosh, narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in the same event. These talented shooters, along with their teammate Ashi Chouksey, had earlier showcased their prowess in the team event, clinching the silver medal. Their impressive performance was based on the combined scores from the qualification round, bringing home further glory for India at the Asian Games.

Following four series in the elimination stage, Ramita held a slight advantage over Mehuli, with a margin of just 0.2 points. However, she managed to widen this lead to 0.7 points, resulting in Mehuli's exit from the competition.

Ramita, who secured a score of 631.9, claimed the second position in the qualification round, surpassing all but China's Han Jiayu, who ultimately won the silver medal. The gold medal in this event was clinched by China's Huang Yuting, who set a Games Record with an impressive score of 252.7.

With the team's silver medal already against her name, Ramita became the first multi-medallist of the 2022 edition of the games. The Sports Authority of India (SAI) also took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the shooter for her achievement.
