'Personally Won't Do It Because...': Arjun Tendulkar Has His Say On 'Mankading Debate'

Arjun Tendulkar said that he is in favor of "Mankading" and those who say it against the spirit of the game are wrong as the bowlers are well within their rights to do so.

All-rounder Arjun Tendulkar believes that it is not wrong to run out a batsman before the ball is bowled by the bowler at the non-striker's end, but he would never do it himself. In an exclusive interview with CricketNext, Indian battig icon Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar said that he is in favor of "Mankading" and those who say it against the spirit of the game are wrong as the bowlers are well within their rights to do so.

"I'm completely in favour of Mankading. It's in the Law. For the people who say it's against the spirit of the game, I disagree. I personally won't do it because I can't stop and remove the bails in my run up. It's too much effort and I won't waste my energy in it but if someone does it, I'm in favour of it," Arjun told CricketNext.

Arjun Tendulkar moved to Goa's T20 squad to get more opportunities after being constantly ignored by Mumbai. The young all-rounder made a terrific start to his first-class career by scoring a century on his Ranji Trophy debut, 34 years after his father Sachin Tendulkar achieved the same.

Even though Arjun was included the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad last season, he could not make it to the final Playing XI even for one single game. Even in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Arjun was part of the Mumbai Indians squad for two successive seasons but is yet to play his first game in the competition.

Arjun's father Sachin Tendulkar believes it is important for Arjun to get game time.

"Getting maximum game time on the ground is important for Arjun at this juncture of his career. We believe that the shift will improve the probability of Arjun featuring in more competitive matches. He is embarking on a new phase of his cricketing career," Sachin was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz in August, last year.
