9-0! Manchester United Run Havoc Against Southampton As Seven Players Score For Utd, Watch Highlights And Goals Here

Manchester United equaled their all-time record of scoring the most goals in a Premier League match. They had the same score line against Ipswich in 1995.

Man United go level with points with table toppers Manchester City as they register their biggest win of this 21st century. They scored nine goals and easily crossed the line against Southampton at Old Trafford. The game started with a nightmare for the visiting team as they lost Alex Jankewitz to a red card challenge on Scott McTominay. Luke Shaw provided assists from the left to the first two goals as Wan Bissaka and Rashford scored in the opening 25 minutes of the game. The third goal was an own goal for United and the fourth and final goal of the first half came via Edinson Cavani’s precise header.

It was 4-0 at the end of first half and things were already looking easy for the home team. The second half saw five goals from United forwards and another red card to Jan Bednarek in the 86th minute. The five second half goals came from Martial (69’, 90’), McTominay (71’), Fernandes (Pen 87’) and James (90+3’).

This surely would be a confidence-booster for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side who had two quite games back-to-back, losing one to Shefield and drawing another against Arsenal. United equaled their previous record of scoring 9-0 against Ipswich Town FC in the 1994-95 season of the Premier League when Sir Alex was the manager.

As far as Southampton are concerned, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have been on the receiving end of a 9-0 defeat for the second time in two years. Previously it was against Leicester City. Although, this game hasn’t brought in major changes in the PL Table as Man City comfortably at the top followed by United and then Liverpool at three. Liverpool will face Brighton while City will face Brighton tonight.
