'India Capable Of Travelling To Moon, Mars And Venus But...': ISRO Chief After Chandrayaan-3's Success

Chandrayaan-3 has achieved two of the three mission objectives already since the time it landed on the lunar surface on August 23. The ISRO chief said that the coming 14 days are crucial.

India made history on August 23 after becoming the first country to reach the southern pole of the Moon. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said that Chandrayaan-3 has successfully completed two of the three objectives of the mission. Now, ISRO chief S Somnath said the coming 14 days will be crucial for the mission. He added that India has the capability to travel to the Moon, Mars and Venus but the country needs to increase its confidence. He said that there is a need for more investment in the space sector.

"India has the capability to travel to the Moon, Mars and Venus but we need to increase our confidence. We need more investment and the space sector must develop and by this, the whole nation should develop, that is our mission. We’re ready to fulfill the vision that was given to us by PM Modi," the ISRO chief said.

"We are extremely happy with the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon...Most of the scientific mission objectives are going to be met...I understand that all the scientific data is looking very good. But we will continue to measure a lot of data from the Moon in the coming 14 days. And we hope that we will make a really good breakthrough in science while doing so. So we are looking excitedly for the next 13-14 days," the ISRO chief said while talking to the news agency ANI.

The coming two fortnights will be crucial as a lot of data from the moon will be sent to the scientists at ISRO regarding the scientific experiments that will be conducted on the lunar surface. The whole team of Chandrayaan-3 is keeping a close eye on every movement and development.

Meanwhile, Chandryaan-3 has completed two of its three main objectives. The completed two objectives are- the demonstration of a Safe and Soft Landing on the Lunar Surface, and the demonstration of the 'Pragyan' rover roving on the moon. The space agency said that the third objective, which is conducting in-situ scientific experiments, is underway and all payloads are performing normally.
