Karwa Chauth Moonrise Time In MP: The festival of Karwa Chauth will be celebrated with great enthusiasm across India today, October 20, 2024. This festival, steeped in tradition and devotion, holds special significance for married women. Celebrated annually on the fourth day of the Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Kartik, Karwa Chauth symbolises the deep love, dedication, and prayers of women for the long life and prosperity of their husbands.

On this day, women observe the Nirjala Vrat, a strict fast where they abstain from food and water from sunrise until moonrise. The day begins with a pre-dawn meal known as Sargi, typically prepared by the mother-in-law, which helps women sustain themselves throughout the fast. As the day progresses, women engage in prayers and rituals, adorned in beautiful traditional attire, and prepare for the evening ceremonies.

The fast is considered complete only after the moon is sighted. Once the moon rises, a special ritual is performed in which women offer arghya to the moon, seeking blessings for the longevity and well-being of their husbands. A significant part of the ritual is when the woman looks at the moon through a sieve, followed by looking at her husband in the same manner, symbolising her prayers for his long life. After this, she breaks her fast by drinking water offered by her husband, marking the end of the day-long observance.
