In Conversation With Koo CTO Phaneesh Gururaj: Challenges Of Setting Up A Social Media Platform In India | Tech It Easy Ep-25

Episode Description

Launched in 2020, the homegrown social media app Koo is now seeing over 7-8 million active users, hoping to reach the 100-million download mark by the end of 2022. What challenges does a social media platform face when it tries to launch in a market as diverse as India? What does it need to do to make itself stand out from big-tech platforms such as Facebook or Twitter? In today's episode, host Shayak Majumder chats with Koo CTO Phaneesh Gururaj to understand how Koo built itself to cater to its regional users. Gururaj offers his take on the hurdles Koo had to overcome in terms of language translation, and how it has always listened to its users (and have an Edit button on the platform for nearly two years now — unlike rival Twitter). He also teased exciting new video-related developments at Koo, along with a new interaction and exploration tool called Koo World. Only on ABP Live Podcasts.
