Huge crowds have lined the streets of Tokyo to pay their last respects to ex-Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, who was assassinated last week. The 67-year-old was shot dead on Friday while speaking at a campaign event in the southern city of Nara. On Tuesday, a hearse carried the body of the country's longest-serving prime minister through the capital to the funeral hall where he was cremated.

The United States rejected Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s recent request for a visa. Mr. Gotabaya, formerly a dual citizen of Sri Lanka and the U.S., gave up his American citizenship ahead of the 2019 elections because of a law that barred foreign nationals from running for the presidency. He won the election with a thumping majority but became, arguably, the country’s most unpopular leader mid-term, amid a severe economic crisis.

London's Heathrow said it would cap the number of departing passengers at 100,000 a day this summer to try to limit traveller disruption as it struggles to cope with a rebound in demand. Airlines at Britain's busiest airport have already responded to a government appeal to cut capacity but Heathrow said it needed them to go further.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed a rally in Jharkhand Deoghar and that short-cut politics based on populist measures can destroy India, lead to short-circuit. PM Modi said this after he embarked on a 12-km roadshow in Jharkhand's Deoghar district amid tight security. During his roadshow, PM Modi also said that his government is making investments to provide modern facilities at places associated with faith, historical importance in the state.

The rupee declined 15 paise to close at a new lifetime low of 79.60 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday as a strong greenback overseas and weakness in domestic equities continued to weigh on investor sentiments.

SpiceJet's Dubai-Madurai flight delayed on Monday (July 11) after the Boeing B737 Max aircraft's nose wheel malfunctioned, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) officials said. Meanwhile, the SpiceJet Spokesperson said, "an alternate aircraft was arranged which brought pax back to India. After the minor technical issue was resolved, first aircraft flew back to India as a commercial flight." "Flight delays can happen with any airline. There has been no incident or a safety scare on this flight," the spokesperson added.

Amid the ongoing row over inauguration of the national emblem cast atop the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Opposition parties and activists across the country have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central government of 'distorting' the emblem by replacing the "graceful and regally confident" Ashokan lions with those having menacing and aggressive posture.

Heard's lawyers have argued that the verdict should be set aside and a new trial should be ordered because one of the seven jurors in the case never received a summons.
