Pulwama: It was just the second month into the year when India was jolted by a major terror attack in Pulwama of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. 40 CRPF personnel were killed in the strike by Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists on February 14. The attack strained the relations between India and neighbouring Pakistan further building an international pressure on Pakistan to take action against terror groups bred in its territory.

Somalia Bombings: More than 90 people died and 130 others were injured in one of the worst terror attacks seen in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu, towards the end of the year. On December 28, 2019 a car bomb was detonated on Saturday during morning rush hour at a busy intersection that connects the Somali capital with the town from Afgoye. Among the dead were at least 17 students from Benadir University in the city, who were in a minibus at the junction. Dr Nasra Ali of Medina Hospital, said that many of the injured have been dying from shortages of blood supplies.

Chirstchurch attack: On March 15, 50 people fell victim to the terror attack at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. A white supremacist opened fire at two mosques full of worshipers attending Friday prayers. The mass shooting took place in the Al Noor Mosque in central Christchurch and the Linwood Mosque in the city's outer suburb. The attacker, identified by authorities as Australia-born Brenton Tarrant, 28, filmed his actions for 17 minutes and published a long manifesto of more than 70 pages, justifying his extreme right-wing ideology and hatred of Muslims, which together with the video were published on social networks.

Easter Sunday Bombings: In Sri Lanka , a string of powerful blasts ripped through three churches and as many luxury hotels frequented by foreigners on Easter Sunday, killing more than 250 people and injuring more than 500 others, shattering a decade of peace in the country following the end of the brutal civil war with the LTTE. The bombs tore through three five-star hotels in Colombo: the Cinnamon Grand, the Shangri La and the Kingsbury. The ISIS later claimed the responsibility for the devastating bombings.

London Bridge attack: On 29 November 2019, two people were stabbed to death and three others injured at London Bridge, when Usman Khan, a terror convict who had been out on parole, targeted a gathering of students and other former convicts during a Cambridge University conference on prisoners' rehabilitation at Fishmongers' Hall at the north end of London Bridge at 1.58 p.m. Television images captured Khan brandishing a knife as he walked across the London Bridge. He was shot dead by police after members of the public wrestled him to the ground. The Islamic State (IS) claimed the responsibility for the Friday's terror attack at London Bridge. The extremist group's Amaq news agency on Saturday said the 28-year-old attacker Usman Khan was one of Islamic State's fighters.
