Number two in this elite list is also a Sri Lankan - Kumara Sangakkara - who amassed 1075 runs (four centuries and eight fifties) in 23 innings.
India's Sachin Tendulkar is number three, having scored 971 runs in 23 matches from 1990 to 2012.
One of Pakistan's finest all-rounders Shoaib Malik has so far scored 768 runs in just 17 Asia Cup matches, laced up with three centuries and three fifties.
Team India's senior opener and captain at present, Rohit Sharma, is fifth-highest all-time run-getter in Asia Cup history. He has so far scored 745 runs in 21 innings.
