By leading the Men in Blue in 1st T20I vs Ireland, Jasprit Bumrah became the 11th player to captain India in T20Is and first bowler to do so.

Bumrah picked two wickets for 24 runs in his four overs for India in the series opener.

By taking two wickets, Jasprit Bumrah became the first Indian player to win Player of the match award on his T20I captaincy debut.

Before Bumrah,10 other players have captained India in T20Is including MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli but none of them managed to win POTM award on captaincy debut.

In IND vs IRE 1st T20I, Jasprit Bumrah (72 T20I wickets) became India's joint-fourth-highest wicket-taker in T20Is.

Bumrah equalled senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin's (72 wickets in 65 T20Is) tally in the shortest format.
