On February 16, 60 constituencies in Tripura went to the polls, concluding the triangular election. Up until 7 p.m., the provisional turnout was estimated at nearly 80% by the Election Commission of India. Voting began at 7 a.m. and lasted until 4 p.m. across 3,337 polling stations in the north-eastern state for the 60-member House. During the polling, at least three people were injured in separate violent incidents, including a CPI(M) leader and two Left party poll workers. "A large number of voters were seen queuing in front of polling stations since morning to exercise their franchise. The polling process has largely remained peaceful amidst tight security," he told reporters. "A total of 69.96 per cent voting was recorded till 3 pm. In the Boxanagar area of the Sepahijala district, unidentified individuals attacked a CPI(M) local committee secretary, causing him to sustain injuries. A police officer said that he was taken to a health facility nearby, where his condition is said to be stable. In the Kakraban assembly constituency in the Gomati district, two CPI(M) poll workers were also severely beaten. He stated that a vehicle belonging to CPI(M) candidate Pabitra Kar's polling agent was also ransacked at Khayerpur in the West Tripura district. ( Image Source: PTI )

After casting his ballot in the Ramnagar constituency, opposition leader Manik Sarkar urged the populace to "brave all odds" and cast their votes in concert to form a new government that will promote democracy and tranquility.
