The Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old man named Maninder Singh who was allegedly seen swinging sword with the intent of "motivating" and "energising" protesters gathered at the ramparts of Red Fort during the violence that broke out on Republic Day. (Image: ANI)

Police also informed that Singh runs a sword training school near his home in Swaroop Nagar in northwest Delhi and works as a car AC mechanic. He was arrested at around 7:45 pm on Tuesday from a block bus stop located in Pitampura. (Image: PTI)

"Singh was seen in a video swinging two swords at Red Fort with the intent of motivating or radicalising and energising violent anti-national elements indulging in brutal assault and attacking police persons on duty with swords, 'khandas', iron rods, axes, 'barsaas', sticks etc and damaging the historical Red Fort on Republic Day," Police said. Further, Police also alleged that Singh was "radicalised" by seeing provoking Facebook posts of various groups and he would frequently visit the Singhu border and was "highly motivated" by speeches made by leaders there. (Image: PTI)

As per the Special Cell of Delhi Police which arrested Singh, he also 'motivated' six other people from the neighbourhood who had accompanied the tractor parade that headed from Singhu border towards the Mukarba Chowk. Even the two swords - 4.3-foot-long 'khandas' - used by Singh have been recovered from his house. (Image: PTI)

The video of him swinging swords at the Red Fort went viral on social media soon after the incident and the same was found in his phone as well. Even the Police officials found other photos of his presence at Delhi's Singhu boder. Police have also informed that accused has been taken into custody and investigation is on. (Image: PTI)
