Preparations On For Opening Of Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Shrouded In Snow — In Pics

Preparations are in full swing ahead of the opening of Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. The Hemkund Sahib Yatra will start on May 20 and it will end at the end of October.

Currently, Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib is covered with snow.

On Sunday, April 9, Army personnel were seen involved in the snow clearance in front of the Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib.

Thousands of devotees visit the holy pilgrimage site of Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib every year ahead of the Yatra. The literal meaning of the Hemkund Sahib is “Lake of Snow.”

The Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib is the highest Gurudwara in the world with a height of 4633 meters above sea level.

President of Gurudwara Shri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust Sardar Narendrajit Singh Bindra earlier met with Chief Secretary Dr SS Sandhusaid and said Indian Army personnel will leave for Ghangharia to clear snow from the Yatra routes on April 20.

Hemkund Sahib tourist place is located on the snow-capped mountains with a panoramic view of the Himalayas and dense forests near it.
