Bengaluru Set To Host 'Kambala' Buffalo Race Over Weekend — IN PICS

'Kambala' is a race of a pair of buffaloes directed by a jockey. It will be held for the first time in Bengaluru. Kambala is usually organised in coastal Karnataka and certain parts of Kerala.

A trial run was conducted on the Palace Grounds in Bengaluru on Thursday, before the two-day race scheduled for November 25 and 26. A total of 139 pairs of buffaloes will participate in the race, specially transported from the coastal region. (Source: PTI)

The winner has the opportunity to grab 16 grams of gold and Rs 1 lakh. The runner-up will get 8 grams of gold and Rs 50,000 and the second runner-up will be awarded 4 grams of gold and Rs 25,000. The organisers are expecting 2 lakh people to attend the event. (Source: PTI)
