US: 23-Year-Old Teacher Gives Birth 48 Hours After Finding Out She's Pregnant

Peyton Stover, a 23-year-old teacher from Omaha didn't experience any symptoms commonly related to pregnancy.

A woman in US's Nebraska gave birth to her first child just 48 hours after finding out she was pregnant. Peyton Stover, a 23-year-old teacher from Omaha didn't experience any symptoms commonly related to pregnancy. However, she did experience fatigue which she thought was due to her new schedule as a teacher.

According to the local news outlet KETV, Stover also noticed other changes in her body including swelling of her legs and visited the doctor for these symptoms which is when she was informed that she was pregnant.

"They ran the test again she said, 'It's positive. We're going to do an ultrasound," Stover told KETV. "She looked right at the screen and said, 'You're definitely pregnant."

Stover was also told that there were several other medical conditions, her liver and kidneys were not working properly so the doctors sprung into action. She was admitted to the hospital that night, and her family and boyfriend Travis Koesters rushed to be with her.

"They said she needs to be admitted and then she had the baby that night," Koesters told KETV.

Stover had an emergency caesarean section, and her baby boy named, Kash was born 10 weeks early. Stover had preeclampsia - a pregnancy condition that can cause serious complications and is characterised by high blood pressure and signs of damage to other organs.

The couple said that they did want kids someday, however, they are happy that the baby came sooner than planned. This also happens to be on Stover's birthday.

"Now that I've actually held him, fed him and things like that it's real. He's actually mine," Koesters said.

The parents told the news outlet that he is doing well, and is gaining weight though they don't know when they can bring him home.
