Rath Yatra 2024: Odisha Police plans to implement AI technology for improved traffic and crowd management during the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra, according to a senior official. This year's festival, also known as the Chariot Festival and as old as the Jagannath Temple itself, will be a two-day event for the first time in 53 years. Additional DGP Dayal Gangwar explained that AI-based CCTV coverage will be used at 40 locations as part of a pilot project. Drones will identify blind spots and traffic congestion areas and assist police officers. Drones equipped with public address systems will also be deployed to manage traffic at typically congested spots.
