UK Man Creates World Record By Getting Daughter's Name Tattooed 667 Times On His Body
The 400 tattoos, 200 on each leg of Mark Owen Evans took five and a half hours to be completed.
A UK man has reclaimed the Guinness World Record for the most tattoos of the same name on the body. The 49-year-old Mark Owen Evans broke the record by having his seven-year-old daughter’s name, Lucy, inked on himself 400 more times. The total number now stands at 667.
Evans first made the record in 2017 by getting 267 ‘Lucy’ tattoos on his back. But the record was broken in 2020 by 27-year-old Diedra Vigil of the United States. Vigil had her name tattooed on her body 300 times, reported the Guinness World Record.
Mark was, however, determined to reclaim the title and decided to have the new tattoos done on his thighs as there was no space left on his back. The 400 tattoos, 200 on each leg took five and a half hours to be completed.
"I couldn’t wait to claim the record back and dedicate this to my daughter," said Evans to the records keeping company.
Evans attempted this record to celebrate Lucy’s birth, as well as to raise funds for the hospital which provided care for her in the following months.
According to GWR, Evans drew up the design for the first set of tattoos himself. The design on his back featured an open book, the Guinness World Records book, with Lucy’s name repeatedly written on the two pages. Two skilled tattoo artists at Dexterity Ink in Wrexham worked for an hour to create the design.
Initially, Evans had a target of getting Lucy's name tattooed 100 times, but to his surprise the tattoo experts helped him fit double that number on his back.
"It felt weird - because there were two tattooists doing it at the same time, the pain was kind of cancelled out," Evans told The Sun.
“I love that I’m literally wearing my record and it goes everywhere with me,” he added.
