Giant Strawberry From Israel Declared Largest By Guinness World Records - Watch Video

Chahi Ariel has grown the largest strawberry on his farm in central Israel last year. It was kept frozen until Guinness World Records recognised it as the world’s largest.

A farmer in Israel, who goes by the name of Chahi Ariel, has recently entered the Guinness World Records. His shot to fame was that he grew the largest strawberry on record.

An average strawberry weighs around 10-12 grams. However, the strawberry which was harvested by him on his farm last year weighed 289g. It has now been declared the world’s largest strawberry. Ariel spent almost a year farming it.

A report by Sky News shared that the strawberry was produced in Ariel’s family farm near Netanya in central Israel. It was picked on in February 2021 and had been stored in a freezer ever since.

Ariel told Sky News, “We waited for a year for the results. We kept it in the freezer for a year. It's no longer as pretty as it was.” He further said that the record-breaking strawberry has shrunk to about half the size it was a year ago, when fresh. This strawberry is a local verity which is called Ilan. They tend to grow to a hefty size.

The previous record for the ‘World’s Largest Strawberry’ was given to a strawberry grown in Fukuoka, Japan, back in 2015. This one weighed around 250g on the scale. Ariel’s strawberry has broken the record with a margin of 39g.

Ariel further said, “We are very happy to be in the Guinness World Records.” He also added that he jumped up and down with happiness when he got the news.
