However, the fire destroyed a major portion of the Raman house, which is a boys' hostel with around 7 rooms in it. It accommodates about 200 students. As per a report by NorthEast Now, the hostels caught fire when students from class VIII to XII standards were studying there.
The fire had already burnt many portions of the Raman House when Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, locals, and about four fire tenders reached the spot.
Locals had reported the fire to the school authorities that eventually engulfed the school's hostel premises. The hostellers were out to attend classes in the school when the fire broke out, reported NorthEast Now.
The further spread of the fire was stopped and controlled by the additional enforcement of more fire tenders at the behest of Imphal west district fire services.
As per the report, School principal GP Capt Rajneesh Kumar said school equipment and tools that were used to douse the flames proved to be little effective.
Meanwhile, concerned authorities and the fire services department are probing the entire matter.
School properties and items that were destroyed in the fire include old wooden and tin rooftops of the hostel. It also burnt books, certificates, and other school items.
