Major Fire At Sainik School In Manipur's Imphal. School Incurs Loss Worth Rs 60 Lakhs, Report Says

School properties and items that were destroyed in the fire include old wooden and tin rooftops of the hostel. Books, certificates, and other school items were also reduced to ashes in the fire.

New Delhi: A major fire broke out at the Sainik School Imphal on Saturday. The school, which is located around 7 km from Imphal, caught fire at around 12.30 pm on Saturday from the adjacent dried paddy field.

School properties worth over Rs 60 lakhs were destroyed in the fire, according to official sources cited by NorthEast Now.

The official Twitter handle of the school informed about the incident and stated that the major blaze was doused after timely help from the Manipur Fire Department. The school tweeted, "All cadets are safe and damage control is on."

The school's Twitter handle tweeted that timely help from the authorities resulted in no loss of human life at the Raman hostel.

However, the fire destroyed a major portion of the Raman house, which is a boys' hostel with around 7 rooms in it. It accommodates about 200 students. As per a report by NorthEast Now, the hostels caught fire when students from class VIII to XII standards were studying there.

The fire had already burnt many portions of the Raman House when Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, locals, and about four fire tenders reached the spot.

Locals had reported the fire to the school authorities that eventually engulfed the school's hostel premises. The hostellers were out to attend classes in the school when the fire broke out, reported NorthEast Now.

The further spread of the fire was stopped and controlled by the additional enforcement of more fire tenders at the behest of Imphal west district fire services.

As per the report, School principal GP Capt Rajneesh Kumar said school equipment and tools that were used to douse the flames proved to be little effective.

Meanwhile, concerned authorities and the fire services department are probing the entire matter.

School properties and items that were destroyed in the fire include old wooden and tin rooftops of the hostel. It also burnt books, certificates, and other school items.
