Manipur: 45 Visually Impaired Children Rescued By Assam Rifles Safely Reunite With Parents

Manipur News: A total of 45 visually impaired children of Mission Blind School in Kakching district were rescued by Assam Rifles. The children were safely reunited with their parents due to security forces' efforts.

Guwahati: As the dust of violence is settling down slowly with the passage of time in Manipur, some of the most ghastly and gruesome acts of violent incidents will however leave thousands of the riot victims, who have witnessed it happen in front of their own eyes, spending sleepless nights for months as they recollect "the day" it all happened.  The horrific violence, that erupted on May 3, claimed the lives of 73 people besides leaving another 230 people grievously injured.

According to the official figures, a total of 1,809 houses have been set ablaze since the violence erupted earlier this month. As the clashes between two particular communities were at their peak, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles requisitioned to control the violence that had already left several of the victims lying in a pool of blood.

With the clashes claiming the lives of some innocent people, there are many who managed to survive, even after receiving grievous injuries.

Apart from stopping the violent protests, the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles were also busy evacuating people who were trapped between both groups who were engaged in the clashes. Hundreds of people were inside their houses when the protestors went on a rampage and set the houses ablaze with the people still stuck inside.

Seeing the people trapped inside the burning houses, the Army immediately swung into action and rescued all of those trapped inside the houses.

During the melee, the Army noticed a school on fire and several children trapped inside it. They immediately rescued a total of 45 visually impaired children and supporting staff of Mission Blind School in the Kakching district of the state, amidst the growing clashes that took place between two particular communities from May 3.

The security forces extricated the children and immediately shifted them to the Army’s Kakching Garrison, where they were provided solace, food, and shelter.

After keeping the children there for a period of around 10 days, the Assam Rifles finally handed them over to their respective parents on May 13.

The tireless and relentless efforts of our brave soldiers, who saved more than 45 innocent lives, during the most difficult times, will be forever remembered.
