Assam: Guwahati-Based YouTuber Found Dead, Husband Arrested

A 19-year-old popular YouTuber was found hanging at her home in Bamunimaidam area of Assam's Guwahati on Sunday night. Priyolina Nath, who ran a YouTube channel named Sanggi Vlogs, was found with a rope tied around her neck. Her body bore several injury marks, police said.

Priyolina's husband Pankaj Nath (30) has been arrested by Chandmari Police after questioning. 

Priyolina got married to Pankaj just three months ago. While Priyolina hails from the lower Assam district of Bongaigaon, Nath is a resident of Sonitpur district's Jamugurihat area.

Priyolina's relatives have alleged that she was murdered by Pankaj and then hanged.

"On receiving a complaint from the neighbours of the deceased, we rushed to the spot and found her hanging. Her body bore several injury marks. We have sent the body for post-mortem and are waiting for the report," officer in-charge of Chandmari police station Tinkumani Bordoloi told ABP Live.

"During interrogation, the accused said claimed she has died by suicide. But we are not buying his theory and started our investigation into the matter. We have arrested the accused and produced him before the court and sought his remand," Bordoloi further said.

Speaking to reporters, one of Priyolina's friends said none of them were aware of her marriage. 

"She was a fun-loving girl. I came to know about her tragic end through television and it came to me as a shocker. I had met her just four days ago and she was so happy. We have made a lot of videos together. We were very good friends but none of us were aware of her marriage. She always used to tell us that she stays alone in a rented house in the city," the friend said.
