Annual ‘Fruit Mixing Ceremony’ In Assam’s Guwahati Sets Stage For Festive Joy

The Fruit Mixing Ceremony, a cherished tradition, marks the commencement of the festive season with a delightful blend of fruits and enthusiasm.

As the countdown to Christmas, the annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ begins, Assam’s Guwahati hosted its much-anticipated annual Fruit Mixing Ceremony’ on Saturday, enveloping the air with the enchanting fragrance of holiday cheer. Adding a gourmet touch to the festivities, Nayanjyoti Saikia, winner of the seventh season of ‘Master Chef India,’ graced the occasion, elevating the celebratory spirit, as per a press release.  

Reflecting on the event, Saikia said, “Participating in the Fruit Mixing Ceremony has been an absolute delight. It is heartening to see communities come together to celebrate traditions and create lasting memories. The festive spirit here is truly contagious.”

“We are thrilled to have hosted yet another successful Fruit Mixing Ceremony, marking the beginning of the holiday season. The presence of culinary maestro Nayanjyoti Saikia added an extra layer of excitement to the event, enhancing the overall experience for participants. We look forward to spreading joy and creating lasting memories for the people throughout this festive season,” said one of the organisers of the event.

Year after year, the act of fruit mixing has evolved into a beloved ritual, creating long-lasting and cherished memories for participants and spectators alike. The air buzzed with lively conversations, cheerful vibes and laughter, it added.

Originating in England, Christmas pudding, also known as plum pudding, holds a special place in the hearts of those partaking in this time-honored ceremony. Prepared five weeks before Christmas, on or after the Sunday before advent, each family member or child takes part in stirring the pudding, making a heartfelt wish for the season, the release further said.
