WATCH | Pakistan National Thanks Indian Officials In Ukraine And PM Modi On Being Rescued

A Pakistan national has been rescued by Indian authorities and she is en route to Western Ukraine from where she will be further evacuated out of the country.  

New Delhi: India has been evacuating its citizens after Russia's invasion of Ukraine began last month and has brought back over 17,100 of its nationals from Ukraine so far.

As Operation Ganga continues and Indian nationals, most of them being students, are being evacuated from Sumy a story of humantarian rescue operation by India is coming to the limelight.

A Pakistan national has been rescued by Indian authorities and she is en route to Western Ukraine from where she will be further evacuated out of the country.  

Pakistan's Asma Shafique expressed her gratitude for being rescued by Indian officials and thanked Indian Embassy in Kyiv for helping her out, reports news agency ANI. In a video, she can also be seen extending her thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on Tuesday that the Indian students moved out of Sumy were being taken to Poltava, from where they will board trains to western Ukraine.

The MEA spokesperson also posted a video on Twitter showing Indian students having refreshments in the backdrop of parked buses.

Also, the Indian Embassy in Ukraine issued an advisory urging all stranded Indian nationals to make use of "humanitarian corridor" announced in various parts of Ukraine and evacuate using trains, vehicles or any other available means of transport giving due consideration to safety.
