“We want to have good relations with the world’s countries, but want them to not pressure Afghanistan because pressure does not work and does not benefit Afghanistan or world countries,” he told a press conference, TOLO News reported.

Muttaqi also urged the donor countries to provide development aid to Afghanistan.

“We would like to ask the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and donor countries to provide development aid to Afghanistan and resume funding the projects that are not fully implemented,” he said.

Muttaqi further said all employees of the Foreign Ministry inside Afghanistan and in embassies have been asked to continue their work.

The Taliban, which seized control of the Afghan capital in mid-August, have said they want to distance themselves from the harsher old policies under its rule earlier from 1996 to 2001.

Earlier on Sunday, Taliban government's Acting Prime Minister Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund met with Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani called upon the country's new rulers to “involve all Afghan parties in national reconciliation” when he met Prime Minister Mullah Muhammad Hasan Akhund, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said, Reuters reported.

They also discussed “concerted efforts to combat terrorist organizations that threaten the stability of Afghanistan”, ways to enhance peace in the country and the safe passage of people, the Foreign Ministry added.
