'I Don't Debate As Well As I Used To’: US Prez Joe Biden's First Reaction Amid Debate Criticism From Democrats

After a lacklustre performance against his rival Donald Trump in yesterday's Presidential TV debate, Joe Biden vowed to win the November election.

After a lacklustre performance at a TV debate yesterday, United States President and the Democratic Party's candidate Joe Biden on Friday openly acknowledged that he is old and his performance last night, and vowed to win the upcoming November election during a speech to supporters. This comes following the challenging debate against former President Donald Trump last night.

"I know I am not a young man. I don't walk as easily, I don't speak as smoothly, and I don't debate as well as I used to," Biden was quoted as saying by BBC. "But I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. I know how to do this job. When you get knocked down, you get back up," the President added.

'Stakes Are Too High': Biden

Biden further assured his supporters of his ability to lead: "I give you my word as a Biden, I wouldn't be running if I didn't believe with all my heart and soul I can do this job. The stakes are too high".

Despite occasional interruptions from protesters and moments of coughing, Biden confidently outlined his policy goals. "We are going to provide clean drinking water, affordable high-speed internet, quality education for every child in America. We are going to secure our border and protect legal immigration," he was quoted as saying by BBC.

"Unlike the other guy, we are going to stand up to dictators like Putin because America bows to no one," he added.

'One-Man Crime Wave': Biden Slams Trump

Biden further criticised Trump for his debate performance, accusing him of setting "a new record for the most lies told in a single debate". He added, "He lied about the great economy he created. He lied about the pandemic he botched, killing millions of people. America was flat on its back".

Commenting on Trump's legal issues, Biden called him a "one-man crime wave," prompting the crowd to chant, "Lock him up!" He said, "The only convicted criminal on stage last night was Donald Trump. Donald Trump isn't just a convicted felon. He is a one-man crime wave".

Joe Biden's remarks came after his Democratic allies had hoped for a strong performance from the 81-year-old president during the debate. His performance was marked by stumbles and pauses, leaving party strategists and supporters concerned.
