After India's Aatmanirbhar Call, US Prez Trump & Democratic Nominee Joe Biden Vow To End Reliance On China

Although having similar views on ending reliance on China, US President Donald Trump & Democratic Nominee Joe Biden often face each other over who will be stricter to Beijing.

Washington DC (US): Incumbent President of the United States Donald Trump on Friday spoke about fully ending US' reliance on China if re-elected in the oval office. ALSO READ | Massive Setback For Donald Trump! Federal Judge Asks US Prez To Submit Tax Returns To Manhattan DA "We'll fully restore America's manufacturing independence, bring home our critical supply chains and permanently end our reliance on China," Trump said during the 2020 Council for National Policy meeting in Washington. On this issue, the Democratic front-runner Joe Biden is also on the same page as, during his acceptance speech on Thursday, he also emphasised that if he is elected president he will work towards ensuring that US supply chains no longer rely on China and other foreign countries. Trump and Biden have often attacked each other over who would have a stricter policy towards Beijing. The United States and China signed a trade deal in January after an ugly tariff war between both that affected the global economy. Under the agreement, Beijing committed to expanding between this year and next to its purchase of certain US goods and services by a combined $200 billion from 2017 levels. US President Trump accused China of engaging in unfair trade practices and not doing enough to contain the Covid-19 outbreak. China's foreign ministry has repeatedly refuted the accusations. In June, Trump signed into law the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act that allows the US government to impose sanctions over alleged human rights violations of the Muslim Uyghur minority in China.
