US: 2700 Deaths Recorded In 24 Hours, Covid-19 Death Toll Reaches 45,000
Within a span of 24 hours more than 2700 people died in the United States that has come to be a global epicentre for the coronavirus pandemic. The total confirmed cases of coronavirus have reached 8,24,438 and the death toll has reached 45, 039.
New Delhi: Within a span of 24 hours more than 2700 people died in the United States that has come to be a global epicentre for the coronavirus pandemic. According to the data by Center for Systems Science and Engineering(CSSE), Johns Hopkins University, the total confirmed cases of coronavirus has reached 8,24,438 and according to a report by the news agency AFP nearly 40,000 new cases were reported between Monday 8:30 pm local time, and Tuesday at the same time. The death toll has also reached 45, 039. According to a report by Reuters New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan reported their highest single-day coronavirus-related death tolls and that New York State which is the worst affected in the pandemic reported 481 new cases. Health officials in the country have said that the death toll does not suggest that the lockdown is not effective, instead, it is a lagging indicator of the outbreak i.e it is coming after weeks of the patient falling ill.
With a high number of confirmed cases the United States continues to lead and is followed by Spain that has recorded over 2,04,178 cases. The US president Donald Trump is also taking different measures to help curb the spread of the virus and on Monday announced a temporary ban on immigration. Calling the coronavirus an invisible enemy Trump had Tweeted about the decision on Monday night.
"In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!
The pandemic has also affected different industries in the US and on Monday had reported a historic crash of oil prices that had dropped to negative due to the fall in demand for energy fuels caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
