US Considering Travel Ban On Members Of Chinese Communist Party, Their Families: Report

The US administration is working on a proposal to impose a travel ban on the members of Chinese Communist party and even their family members.

Washington: The Donald Trump administration is mulling over a travel ban on members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and even their family members, a report revealed. ALSO READ | US Vs China: Donald Trump Says No Plan To Speak With Xi Jinping, WHO Is Beijing's Puppet The proposal is still in a draft form, The Hill news website quoted The New York Times report as saying on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources. The reported draft may also enable the US government to revoke visas of CCP members and their families who are already living in the country. The New York Times report said that the order can cite the same regulation in the Immigration and Nationality Act that the Trump administration had used in 2017 to impose a travel ban on people coming from several predominantly Muslim countries. It further said that the regulation empowers the President to temporarily block travel to the US by foreign nationals who are deemed "detrimental to the interest" of the country. However, there is uncertainty as the US has been repeatedly attacking China over the spread of Coronavirus pandemic, allegedly hiding the truth about it until it was too late and also over China's territorial issues with its neighbours. So as the US took the drastic step to cut its ties with the World Health Organisation to publically go against China, the possibility of a travel ban is not yet too implausible especially with US Presidential elections ahead.
