Ukraine-Russia Conflict: Special Flight Carrying 182 Indian Citizens From Kyiv Lands At Delhi Airport

The 182 persons who arrived at the Delhi airport from the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, include students.

New Delhi: Amid escalating tension due to the Ukraine-Russia conflict, a special flight of the Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), carrying 182 Indian citizens, landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi, from the capital of Ukraine, at 7:45 am today, news agency ANI reported.

The 182 persons who arrived at the Delhi airport from the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, include students, an official of the UIA told ANI.

On Wednesday night, the Ukrainian government made an announcement that it is closing airports in eastern Ukraine from midnight through 7 am EET, because of the confrontation with Russia.

Also, Ukrainian aviation authorities declared some airspace in the east to be danger areas, because of attempts by Russian aviation authorities to seize control of the airspace, media reports said.

Russia issued a ban on civilian air traffic in airspace over eastern Ukraine, and after this, Ukraine made the announcement on Wednesday night.

The announcement establishes buffer zones for traffic controlled by Ukrainian authorities. This was done in order to avoid coming into potentially hazardous conflict with air traffic controlled by Russian authorities.
