'Taiwan Is Going To Be Next, President Xi Watching With Glee': Donald Trump Amid Russia Ukraine Crisis

On asked if Trump thinks China would invade Taiwan sooner rather than later, Trump said, "They're seeing that our leaders are incompetent. And of course, they're going to do it. This is their time" .

New Delhi: Former President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on US President Joe Biden on Wednesday for handling the Ukraine crisis and warned in an interview with Fox Business that Taiwan may be the "next" for a potential invasion.

On asked if Trump thinks China would invade Taiwan sooner rather than later, Trump was quoted by the website of Fox Business as saying, "I do because they're seeing how stupid the United States is run. They're seeing that our leaders are incompetent. And of course, they're going to do it. This is their time" .

Hitting out at the Biden administration, Trump said. "Biden said such weak statements at the beginning that Putin said 'Oh wow, this is my time to go. The former President believes that China is closely watching the US actions on various fronts and may leverage this opportunity to pursue its interest.

"President Xi happens to be a man with a high intelligence level, and he looks at what happened in Afghanistan … He saw the way that we left Afghanistan … left American citizens there – is still trying to get out – he sees that, and this is his opportunity to do what he wants to do," he said as quoted in the report.

"Taiwan is going to be next. Just watch Taiwan; President Xi is watching with glee," Trump told the host Maria Bartiromo of Fox Business.

Meanwhile, as the world remains focused on the Russian-Ukraine crisis, the US delegation is in Taiwan for a two-day visit in a sign of support for the island claimed by China after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The former defence and security officials led by ex-Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mike Mullen, met with Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen during their visit to the self-ruled island.
