On the other hand, Russia agreed on opening humanitarian corridors in Ukraine to allow civilians caught in areas of conflict to flee. However, Kyiv is not convinced and called the move a publicity stunt.

Ukraine argued that people caught in the conflict will not be able to escape as the humanitarian corridors either lead into Russia or its ally Belarus.

Ukrainian President said that almost 35,000 people were rescued via the humanitarian corridors established on Wednesday.

“Today we were able to organize three humanitarian corridors: from the city of Sumy, from city of Kyiv and Kyiv region, and from Enerhodar,” he said as quoted on CNN.

Meanwhile, As the Russia-Ukraine war continues to escalate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday has spoken on the phone to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, and discussed the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
The PMO in a statement said Modi, in the telephonic conversation, reiterated India's consistent appeal for cessation of hostilities and a return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy. He welcomed the ongoing talks between Russia and Ukraine and hoped for an early resolution to the crisis.
