Princess Anne, Sister Of King Charles III, Admitted To Hospital After Being Injured By Horse

Princess Anne, a member of the British Royal family sustained minor injuries and concussion after which she was admitted to a hospital.

Princess Anne, a member of the British Royal family, sustained minor injuries and concussion after which she was admitted to a hospital, Buckingham Palace announced on Monday.

She was injured by a horse while she was walking within the Gatcombe Park estate on Sunday evening. Due to this she suffered minor wounds to the head, Telegraph reported.

Princess Anne, is the second child and only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and the only sister of King Charles III.

Although the exact cause of the injuries is yet to be ascertained but there were horses present in the vicinity. The injuries are said to be consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs, the medical team of the Princess said, the report noted.

Princess Royal is one of the most experienced riders in Britain and had also competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games as a member of the British Three-Day Event team, Telegraph reported.

She also won the individual European Three-Day Event at Burghley in 1971. 

The Princess Royal is a regular rider, was even praised recently for her control of horse Noble during Trooping the Colour, the report said.

She received treatement in an ambulance on the scene before she was admitted to the Southmead Hospital in Bristol for further treatment, tests, and observation.

"Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery," the statement read.

The statement by the Palace further read: "The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery."

Princess Recovering Well, Likely To Be Released Later This Week

Her husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, and her children Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, were present on the estate at the time of the incident. The other members of the Royal family including the King, Queen, Prince Edward, Andrew, and William were informed about the incident last night.

As per the report, Princess Anne is expected to be released from the hospital later this week.

A spokesman told Telegraph that she is recovering well and is in a "comfortable condition". "She is being kept in hospital as a precautionary measure for further observation," the spokesman added.

Princess Anne's husband accompanied her to the hospital. Follwing the incident, all her engagements for the rest of the week will be cancelled. Besides, her participation in the state visit and her upcoming trip to Canada, which was scheduled at the end of this week, will also be cancelled.

"On doctors’ advice, Her Royal Highness’s engagements for the week ahead will be postponed. Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result," the report quoted the spokesman as saying.
