Pakistan: Sikh Pilgrim Shot Dead Near Nankana Sahib Ahead Of Guru Nanak Gurpurb
Pakistan: A Sikh pilgrim travelling to Gurdwara Jana Asthan in Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev Ji, was killed near Bhagaur on the Mananwala-Nankana Sahib Road.
Pakistan News: A Sikh pilgrim from Larkana in Sindh province of Pakistan was killed near Nankana Sahib late Wednesday night. The incident took place near Chak 572, Bhagaur, on the Mananwala-Nankana Sahib Road, and the assailants were said to be a gang of robber, a Dawn report said.
According to the complainant, the report said, Akshat Kumar from Osta Muhammad, Jaffarabad in Balochistan, he, along with his brother-in-law Rajesh Kumar and a companion, Doulat Ram, was travelling to Nankana Sahib to visit the revered Sikh holy site, Gurdwara Janam Asthan, which is celebrating Guru Nanak Gurpurb on November. The group was travelling in a car driven by one Ihsanullah, a resident of Sheikhupura.
As they neared Chak 572, three armed assailants on a motorcycle intercepted the vehicle, demanding cash. The robbers allegedly snatched Rs 4.5 lakh cash from the pilgrims, and Rs 10,000 from the driver. Shortly after, two more accomplices arrived on another motorcycle. The criminals then opened fire on the car, hitting Rajesh Kumar, who was seated in the back, the Dawn report said.
The robbers fled when they noticed a police van approaching. The injured, Rajesh Kumar, was immediately rushed to the Nankana Sahib District Headquarters Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Warburton police have registered an FIR under Sections 302, 395, and 397 of the Pakistan Penal Code based on Akshat Kumar’s complaint. Further investigations are on to arrest the culprits.
Sikhs all over the world are participating in Guru Nanak Dev Gurpurb celebrations on Friday, November 15, to mark the 555th birth anniversary of the founder of Sikhism.
The Nankana Sahib police said they have made "fool-proof security arrangements" for the Gurpurb.

Several Sikh pilgrims from India have also gone to Pakistan to pay respects to Guru Nanak Dev at the Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib.
