Fashion Group Mango Founder Isak Andic Dies In Accident At Monserrat Caves, Spanish PM Sanchez Pays Tributes

Isak Andic, the founder of Mango, died in an accident at Monserrat caves, Barcelona. Spanish leaders, including Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, expressed their condolences.

Isak Andic, the founder of global fashion giant Mango, tragically died in an accident on Saturday, the company confirmed in a statement. He was serving as the non-executive Chairman of Mango at the time of his death. The statement, signed by Mango CEO Toni Ruiz, praised Andic for his visionary leadership and deep commitment to the company’s values.

"He dedicated his life to Mango, leaving an indelible mark thanks to his strategic vision, his inspiring leadership, and his unwavering commitment to values that he himself imbued in our company," the statement read.

Mango Founder Isak Andic Death: Spanish PM Sanchez Confirms Accident At Monserrat Caves, Pays Tributes

While the statement did not disclose the details of his death, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez confirmed on social media that Andic died in an accident at the Monserrat caves, located outside of Barcelona. "All my affection, and recognition for your great work and business vision, which has turned this Spanish brand into a world reference in fashion," Sanchez wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Catalonia's regional president, Salvador Illa, also expressed his sorrow at the loss. "Dismayed by the loss of Isak Andic, a committed businessman who, with his leadership, has contributed to making Catalonia great and projecting it to the world," Illa posted on X. "He left an indelible mark on the Catalan and global fashion sector," he added.

Andic, in his seventies, was valued at a net worth of $4.5 billion, according to Forbes. He founded Mango in Barcelona in 1984, turning it into one of Europe's leading fashion brands. Today, Mango operates stores in over 120 markets, with its 2023 sales surpassing $3.2 billion. The company is also expanding in the US, with 40 stores currently operating and plans to open 20 more next year.
