King Charles To Mark Anniversary Of Queen Elizabeth's Death 'Quietly And Privately'

There will be no official public event to commemorate the first anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's death, according to a royal spokesperson, BBC reported. The 8th of September will be spent "quietly and privately" by King Charles. The day also commemorates his ascent to the monarchy. There are no preparations for a secret Royal Family reunion on the anniversary of the late Queen's death. Senior royals will spend the summer at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire, where the Queen died last year.

The King is following in the footsteps of his mother, who spent the anniversaries of her father's death and the commencement of her reign in what was often referred to as "private reflection" - with no planned ceremonial celebrations. The late Queen used to quietly commemorate the death of her father, King George VI, in Sandringham. He passed away on February 6, 1952.
King Charles and Queen Camilla are not anticipated to attend any further commemoration ceremonies during the week of the anniversary.

The King and senior members of the Royal Family have also followed in the late Queen's footsteps, with King Charles owning Birkhall on the Balmoral estate, as well as Balmoral Castle.
Family members are likely to arrive at different times over the summer, but a Buckingham Palace official has indicated that no formal, private event would be held to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's passing.

A national memorial to the late Queen will be commissioned "in due course," according to the Cabinet Office.
