Kerala Floods: Pakistan PM Imran Khan extends support, says 'ready for any humanitarian assistance'
Khan, who took the oath as Pakistan's Prime Minister last week, took to Twitter to express his support to the people of Kerala.
Islamabad: Pakistan’s newly elected Prime Minister Imran Khan extended support to the people of the flood-ravaged state Kerala in India on Thursday night.
Taking to Twitter, the Pakistani strongman expressed solidarity with those affected by the devastating floods and offered any humanitarian assistance.
On behalf of the people of Pakistan, we send our prayers and best wishes to those who have been devastated by the floods in Kerala, India. We stand ready to provide any humanitarian assistance that may be needed, Khan said in his tweet.
Massive flood has claimed over 230 lives in Kerala since August 8. At least 10.10 lakh people are still lodged in camps. Pakistan’s support comes after United Arab Emirates , Qatar and Maldives announced financial support to Kerala It has been just a week since Imran Khan took oath as Pak PM and he has openly favoured dialogue and trade between the two countries. He made news the week before for inviting Indian cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, former cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Bollywood actor Aamir Khan for his oath taking ceremony.On behalf of the people of Pakistan, we send our prayers and best wishes to those who have been devastated by the floods in Kerala, India.
