Israel Says Top Hamas Commander Who Led Attacks In Nirim Killed In Airstrike. Releases Video

Hamas commander who led attacks in Israeli border villages of Nirim and Nir Oz were killed in airstrikes by Israeli Air Force, it said on Sunday.

The Israeli Air Force on Sunday said that it has killed the Hamas commander who had led the attacks on two Israeli border villages of Nirim and Nir Oz. In a post on X, the Israeli Air Force said it worked on an intelligence by the Israeli Security Agency to kill Billal Al-Qedra, the commander of the so-called Nukhba unit's southern Khan Yunis battalion. 

"As part of the extensive IAF strikes of senior operatives and terror infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, the IDF and ISA killed the Nukhba commander of the forces in southern Khan Yunis, who was responsible for the Kibbutz Nirim massacre," it said.

The Israeli military also struck over hundred military targets located in Zaytun, Khan Yunis, and west Jabaliya, it said, addding: "These strikes impacted the capabilities of the Hamas terrorist organization, by targeting its operational command centers, military compounds, dozens of launchers, anti-tank-missile launch posts and observation posts."

Operational command centres belonging to the "Islamic Jihad terrorist organization" were also targeted by Israeli Air Force.

The conflagaration between Israel and Hamas entered ninth day on Sunday with over 3,000 people killed in both Gaza and Israel after Hamas' surprise attack on Saturday.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry, around 1,800 people were reported to be killed in the escalations till Friday whereas the Israeli military said that the death toll in its country stood at 1,300 including 222 soldiers. 

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has called an  "urgent extraordinary meeting" of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the Israel-Gaza war seeking to address the "military escalation" and "threat to defenceless civilians in Gaza”.
