Trump's Nomination For Nobel Peace Prize 2021: For the second time in his presidency, US' Donald Trump has been nominated for 2021 Nobel Peace Prize for brokering peace between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) among resolving other conflicts. The development has created quite a buzz on the social media platforms, taking netizens by surprise. Norwegian Parliament member Christian Tybring-Gjedde reportedly lauded the efforts by the US President in establishing peaceful relations and solving various conflicts worldwide. In a statement, Gjedde who also serves as chairman of the Norwegian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, cited incidents of Kashmir border dispute between India and Pakistan, and the conflict between North and South Korea, as well as dealing with the nuclear capabilities of North Korea as some of the key issues "solved by Trump". Since the news of Trump's nomination has surfaced, social media has been flooded with troll and memes. Netizens unapologetically took to the Twitter to express their views. In the previous edition i.e. Nobel Peace Prize 2020, a total of 318 candidates were named. Of these, there were 211 individual candidates while 107 were organisations. Those eligible to nominate someone for the Nobel Peace Prize are public figures, including national politicians, professors and former prize winners. In February and March each year, nominations are shortlisted. The winners are announced in October.
