Former United States President Donald Trump, who was arrested for Georgia election racketeering, and conspiracy charges, termed his arrest a "travesty of justice". “We did nothing wrong at all,” he was quoted as saying by British daily The Guardian. Trump also claimed that the election was “stolen”.

In an interview to Newsmax, Trump stated that he was “treated very nicely” at the jail. He disparaged the prosecutors in his cases as “radical left” lawyers, and called them “vicious animals” and “maniacs”. "In my whole life, I didn't know anything about indictment, and now I've been indicted like four times," Newsmax quoted Trump as saying. Trump was released on bond bail of USD 2,00,000, as per CNN. It added that jail records showed his booking number was P01135809. His height was measured at 6 foot 3 inches and he weighed 215 pounds.

Georgia Election Charges On Donald Trump

Donald Trump has been charged with 13 counts in Georgia, CNN reported. The charges say that Trump falsely claimed victory after the 2020 election, and later tried to overturn the results in Georgia and other states, the report added.

According to CNN, the charges state that Trump pressured Georgia election officials to help his efforts in a series of phone calls, including Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. Notably, Raffensperger and Frances Watson had served as chief investigators for the secretary of state during the 2020 election, the report mentioned.

As per CNN, Trump's campaign filed meritless lawsuits that tried to nullify the results in Georgia. It tried to convince state legislators there to toss Joe Biden’s legitimate electoral votes and replace them with GOP electors, the report added.

In last week's indictment, Trump was charged with 13 counts, including racketeering, conspiracy charges and soliciting a public official to violate their oath of office. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis brought racketeering charges in the Georgia case against all 19 defendants. CNN stated that he accused them of being part of a broad "criminal enterprise" that tried to overturn the 2020 election result in the Peach State.
