Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s no-holds-barred interview with TV presenter Oprah Winfrey has set several tongues wagging. Without taking names, the couple told Winfrey that a member of the Royal Family was worried about their unborn son’s ‘colour’ and ‘how dark’ he was going to be.
The Buckingham Palace on Tuesday (March 9) issued a statement on behalf of the Queen after Meghan and Prince Harry bared it all in an explosive interview. The Palace said that the family would address the issues raised by the Duke and Duchess Sussex ‘privately’.
In their statement, the Palace also said that the whole family is saddened to know ‘how challenging the last few years have been’ for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan. The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members,” the statement read.
Meghan, while talking to Oprah, said that the fear for her child and the growing scrutiny had a detrimental effect on her mental health. She claimed that no security was provided by the Royal Family for their child Archie. The former actress claimed that she had suicidal thoughts while she was expecting her first baby.

Prince Harry added that he had to sign deals with Netflix and Spotify after the Royal Family 'cut him off financially'. He said that he had to make the deals with these platforms to pay for the security of his family members including his yet-to-be born baby girl.
