New Delhi: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's interview with Oprah Winfrey is making headlines has it has given a window to the life behind the glitz and glamour of being royals. The two hour long conversation with Oprah is considered to be the biggest since Princess Diana's interview from 1995 in which she detailed out the her troubled marriage with Prince Charles. 


Meghan Markle talked about how a tabloid claimed she made Kate Middleton, Prince William's wife and the Duchess of Cambridge cry days before Meghan Harry's wedding in 2018.

"Everyone in the institution knew it wasn't true," Meghan said, adding: "The reverse happened." 


"A few days before the wedding, she was upset about something pertaining -- yes, the issue was correct -- about flower girl dresses, and it made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings." she said during the interview with Oprah.


"There wasn't a confrontation and ... I don't think it's fair to her to get into the details of that because she apologised, and I forgiven her. What was hard to get over was being blamed for something that not only I didn't do, but that happened to me."







Calling the incident a "the beginning of a real character assassination."


"I came to understand that not only was I not being protected, but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family," she said.


Shockingly enough, Meghan revealed that she and Harry had met the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welsby three day prior to the big wedding and had a private ceremony. 


"No one knows that. But we called the archbishop, and we just said, 'Look, this thing, this spectacle is for the world, but we want our union between us.'"


Harry's Relationships 


During the interview, Oprah asked Prince Harry about his relationship with his father, Prince Charles and his brother Prince William. Harry said that Charles had stopped receiving his phone calls and feel really let down by him. 


"I feel really let down because he's been through something similar, he knows what pain feels like and Archie's his grandson." He continued "But at the same time, of course I will always love him but there's a lot of hurt that's happened and I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try and heal that relationship."


For Prince William he said that they are on different parts but they both have been through hell and he loves him every much. 


Racist Undertones


Without taking any names, the couple talked about how a member of the royal family was worried about "how dark" Archie was going to be. She said the conversations were with Harry, who relayed them to her. Both she and Harry refused to say which royal said it.




"That conversation, I am never going to share," said Harry. "At the time it was awkward, I was a bit shocked."


Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped away from there royal duties in March 2020 after British tabloids' treatment of Meghan. In an earlier interview, Prince Harry said that his "biggest concern was history repeating itself" referring to how his mother, Princess Diana who died in 1997 after being injured in a Paris car crash while being pursued by paparazzi.
