Afghanistan: Six Injured In Blast Near Money Market Of Jalalabad, Second Explosion Of The Day

At least six people were injured in a blast near the money exchange market in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, during the afternoon hours on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

At least six people were injured in a blast near the money exchange market in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, during the afternoon hours on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

"The blast happened in Talashi Square in front of the money exchange union ... around 1:45 pm," Quraishi Badlon, police spokesperson for Nangahar province, said.

"An explosion occurred in the money exchange market of Jalalabad city this afternoon, eyewitnesses said. An official of the provincial hospital, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said they have received nine wounded people so far," the TOLOnews tweeted.

However, no local security officials have commented on the incident.

The Afghan news agency reported that nine wounded patients have been bought to the provincial hospital.

The cause of the blast was not immediately clear.

Notably, this is the second explosion that occurred in a day in Afghanistan.

At least seven people have died in a bomb blast that occurred Tuesday morning in Afghanistan's Mazar-Sharif city. The blast hit a vehicle carrying oil workers in northern Afghanistan.

Earlier in October, at least two people were killed and 18 injured in a blast that occurred near the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Kabul, Afghanistan.

In a similar incident in September, an explosion was heard in the vicinity of Wazir Muhammad Akbar Khan Grand Mosque in Kabul in Afghanistan during Friday prayers. This was after five people sustained injuries in two blasts that rocked Dasht-e-Barchi area on the western edge of Kabul, police spokesman Khalid Zadran said.
