Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh): In an extremely disturbing incident, a woman knifed her three-year-old son to death and later tried to end her own life by slitting her throat in Baijnath village of Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district as she was stopped from visiting her parents on the occasion of Holi.
The woman identified as Kesh Kumari, who repeatedly stabbed her son Yug, leading to his death, and then tried to slit her throat but was saved by her in-laws and neighbours, IANS reported.
The woman’s husband Rakesh Verma, who works as a labourer, was building a new house away from his current residence. His wife wanted to visit her family for Holi but he refused to let her go, which resulted in a dispute, police said.
Rakesh Verma and the child went to sleep in the newly constructed house while Kesh Kumari and her mother-in-law remained in the old house but the woman came to the new house later on Sunday night and stabbed her son.
