Ruckus In Thane Housing Society After Goats Brought In Ahead Of Eid-Al-Adha, 11 Booked
Eleven people have been booked after chaos broke out in a housing complex in Thane after goats were brought in ahead of Eid-Al-Adha.
Few residents of a housing complex in Maharashtra’s Thane objected after goat were brought in a housing society ahead of Eid-al-Adha, said the police on Wednesday. Following the commotion, the police rushed to the housing society located in Bhayander area after the incident took place on Tuesday and 11 people were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. Residents of the society said they had already passed a rule to not allow any livestock in the society premises.
"Our society had passed a rule that no livestock would be allowed inside the society, but they (some residents of the society) violated it and brought two goats inside. We are opposing it and will not allow it," a resident told news agency ANI.
"We appeal to all to maintain communal harmony and follow the rules of the society," the resident added.
Meanwhile, owners of the goat questiond that if bringing livestock was against the law, a police complaint should have been filed against them.
“If bringing the goats inside the housing colony was against the law, then they should have filed a police complaint against us,” the couple said. We were assaulted, molested and mentally harassed by the mob that gathered to protest against us," the man said.

A video of the incident has been doing rounds on social media platforms in which some people could be seen obstructing the man from taking the goat inside his house.
A police official told news agency PTI that the man informs the police every year in advance about the procedure of bringing a goat to his house ahead of Bakrid as he has no other place to keep it.
"The man takes the goat away the next day and the animal is not slaughtered at his residence," the official said.
The man has now been told to take the animal out of his house in the presence of police, he said.
