NEET Aspirant Dies By Suicide In Hostel Room In Rajasthan's Kota: Police
Police recovered the body on Wednesday morning and gave it over to family members after a post-mortem later in the day.
New Delhi: A class 12 student, who was preparing for NEET exam in Kota, Rajasthan, died after hanging himself in his hostel room on Wednesday, said police as quoted by news agency PTI.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night in Landmark City under the Kunhari police headquarters.
No suicide note was recuperated from his room.
Police recovered the body on Wednesday morning and gave it over to family members after a post-mortem later in the day.
The victim was recognized as 20-year-old Devender Kumar Singh, a resident of Hindaun city in Karauli locale of Rajasthan.
He was a Class 12 student and has been getting ready for the test at a local institute since September last year, Inspector Ganga Sahay Sharma said.
The reason behind the step is yet to be determined and record of the victim in the hostel as well as in the coaching institute is being examined, the controller said.
This is not the first case of a suicide committed by NEET aspirant, in Januray, a young woman in Bihar has also taken such step after she could not pass the NEET exam and then she committed suicide by hanging herself from the fan.
Devnandan Prasad, the father of the deceased told that his daughter Jahnavi was preparing for the NEET examination. Last year also she could not clear the exam.
In September 2021, a 17-year-old girl also comitted suicide over the fear that she may not clear the crucial entrance exam, police said. This was the third suspected suicide of a NEET aspirant in four days, and adds to the dozens of deaths since the common entrance exam for medical courses was first introduced in 2017.
